ST. HILDEGAARD OF BINGEN

​Today, September 17th, is the Feast Day of St. Hildegaard of Bingen (1098-1179). She is the patron saint of: 

                           musicians, writers, esperantists, and philogists. 

She was a Benedictine nun, a Doctor of the Church, and lived in medieval times. She had visions from God since she was a little girl and became a mystic. She advised popes during her lifetime. In addition to being a writer, she was a musician and composed beautiful and unique music. I would highly recommend the album VISION if you’re looking for music to relax by or be inspired by.

More interestingly, she wrote tomes on healing remedies and recipes to help people stay healthy and to heal from various maladies.

Last but not least, she traveled across Europe and preached against schismatics.

St. Hildegaard is one of my favorite saints.
