So we’ve come to the end of the month in which many have chosen to celebrate the sexual congress between people of the same sex – so called, Pride Month. Without the sexual component, two men or two women are simply friends. Throw in the sexual component and you have homosexuals, or gay, or lesbian, as they are won’t to be called.
It is fitting that for those who do not comport or adhere to the month-long wanton celebration of the sexual intercourse between people of the same sex, that we direct our attention to the Divine and make reparations on behalf of ourselves and those who have chosen this path. For over 500 years the month of June has been set aside by Catholics to make devotions to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a devotion in which we recognize the generous and tremendous love Christ has for all of humanity. And it is toward this means we make our amends: Let us pray: O sweet Jesus, glowing with love for us and inflamed with zeal for our salvation, and who understands the misery to which our sins have brought us, desiring to heal the wounds of our souls, behold we humbly come before You to express the sorrow that fills our hearts for the coldness and indifference with which we have so long returned the numberless benefits which You have bestowed upon us. It is with a deep sense of outrages that have been heaped upon You by our sins and the sins of others, that we wish to make reparation to Your most Sacred Majesty. It was our sins that filled Your Heart with bitterness; it was the weight of our guilt that pressed down Your face to the earth in the garden of Olives and caused you to die in agony on the Cross. But now, repentant and sorrowful, we implore Your forgiveness. Jesus, Source of true consolation and ever merciful to the penitent sinner, impart to our hearts the spirit of penance that we may be sincerely sorry for our sins. Pardon them, O Lord, in thy mercy, and let all who have sinned against Thee in the Sacrament of Thy love be converted and return unto Thee. Deliver us from our sins. Merciful Jesus, be our Mediator with Thy Heavenly Father, Whom we have so grievously offended. Help us to amend our ways. As Thy Sacred Heart is our refuge and our hope when we have sinned, so let it be the strength and support of our repentance, and nothing in life or death shall ever separate us from Thee. Amen. John 7:24
